Die Mozilla Foundation hat zum neuen Jahr die endgültige Version 2 der Mozilla Public License veröffentlicht. Gegenüber dem Release Candidate 1 aus dem August 2011 haben sich nur noch geringfügige redaktionelle Änderungen ergeben (siehe hierzu die Nachricht der Woche vom 06.09.2011 [15]). In einem unlängst bekannt gewordenen Urteil [26] vom 10. Dezember 2010 hat das Hamburger Landgericht der Klage von Mozilla gegen mehrere Anbieter kostenpflichtiger Downloads weitgehend stattgegeben. Diese hatten unter anderem die Mozilla-Programme Firefox und Thunderbird gegen verdeckte und teilweise erhebliche Gebühren angeboten, worin das Gericht eine Verletzung der Markenrechte von Mozilla sah.
